Kolkata, Aug 16 (PTI) The West Bengal Cabinet Friday decided to bring areas like Domjur, Sankrail and Dhulagarh areas under the Howrah Police Commissionerate, state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim said.

Till date, the three towns were under the Howrah rural district police.

Incidentally, Dhulagarh was on fire for quite some time in December 2016 because of tension among processionists and local people who were observing religious rituals.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to bifurcate New Town police station, Hakim, who is also the city mayor said.

Green signal was given to divide Jalangi police station and create another Sagarpara police station in Murishdabad district, he said.
