New Delhi [India], August 8 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a meeting to discuss about the upcoming Haryana and Delhi Assembly polls on Thursday.

Rajya Sabha MP and senior party leader Sanjay Singh said the party has set a target of holding 45 public meetings in 15 days.

Speaking after the meeting, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, "Today, a meeting was held of party leaders and discussions were held on how the party will start its campaign at the booth level. We will provide information about announcements related to electricity, water, education and the scheme of giving Rs 1000 to women."

He said the party has started public meetings in Haryana, and they will also launch Arvind Kejriwal's 'guarantee card' in the state.

"We have started public meetings in Haryana. The target of 45 public meetings in 15 days will be conducted by August 12. Apart from this, Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee card will also be launched in Haryana," he said after the meeting.

Sanjay Singh also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over the incarceration of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy case. He alleged that Kejriwal is "being punished" for working for the people of Delhi.

"Arvind Kejriwal's sugar level has gone below 50 several times. Despite this, Arvind Kejriwal is not being released from jail. Arvind Kejriwal is being punished for working for the people of Delhi. A fake CBI case has been lodged against him. Aam Aadmi Party will also convey this issue to the people through its campaign and public meetings," he added.

Other than Sanjay Singh, the meeting was attended by AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha.

The Haryana assembly election is scheduled to be held later this year.

The BJP has been in power in the state since 2014 but will face strong competition from the Congress, which won half of the Lok Sabha seats in Haryana during the last general election.

Earlier, Haryana BJP launched a "Jan Samvad" campaign for the assembly polls.

The assembly election in Delhi will be held next year, where AAP will be aiming to win its fourth straight term in power, at a time when CM Kejriwal in in jail and opposition BJP is attacking AAP heavily over the alleged liquor scam and local issues. (ANI)
