Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 21 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) troops under BSF Guwahati Frontier foiled another smuggling bid and apprehended one gold smuggler along with five gold biscuits on the Indo-Bangladesh international border, an official said.

On October 20, in a specific BSF intelligence-based operation, troops of 138 Bn BSF apprehended one Indian gold smuggler and seized five gold biscuits weighing 582.985 grammes worth Rs 35.87 lakh from his possession at Indo-Bangladesh International Border of district Coochbehar (WB), an official stated.

The apprehended smuggler and seized items are being handed over to the nearest customs office for further legal action, an official said.

Considering the vulnerability of the India-Bangladesh international border and the heightened activities of gold smugglers, drug traffickers, and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are making concerted efforts to keep the border safe and crime-free. (ANI)
