New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during 'Ratri Bhoj par Samvad', a dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.

Sharing an image with the British Prime Minister on his official account on social media platform ‘X’, Shinde posted, “Met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the occasion of ongoing G20 conference in New Delhi. Congratulated Indian-origin Rishi Sunak on behalf of Maharashtra. Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey was present on the occasion (sic).”

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also exchanged pleasantries with the UK PM at the dinner. 

The two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest and areas of collaboration to further enhance the cordial ties between the two nations.

"Union Finance Minister @nsitharaman exchanged pleasantries with @RishiSunak, Prime Minister of United Kingdom, during Ratri Bhoj par Samvad at Bharat Mandapam #G20Summit in New Delhi. They both discussed the issues of mutual interest and areas of collaboration to further enhance the friendship between (the) two nations," the Union Finance Minister posted on ‘X’.

Sunak said the UK and India are two nations with one ambition, one rooted in shared values, the connection between people.

“Two nations, one ambition. An ambition rooted in our shared values, the connection between our people and – of course – our passion for cricket,” the UK PM tweeted on Saturday.

Earlier, on Saturfay, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with his UK counterpart on the sidelines of the G20 Summit being held under India's presidency of the bloc.

The meeting was held on Saturday at the Bharat Mandapam. (ANI)
