Bahraich (UP), Oct 25 (PTI) Two people were killed and seven others were injured when a pick-up vehicle collided head-on with a tractor-trolley on the Lucknow-Bahraich highway, police said on Wednesday.

The accident took place on Tuesday night, police said.

People of Shivrajpur village were bringing a generator on a pick-up vehicle for Durga idol immersion when it collided with the tractor-trolley coming from the opposite direction.

While the pickup driver Altaf (26) died on the spot, eight others injured in the accident were taken to Fakharpur community health centre, where Mithlesh (22), a resident of Shivrajpur, died.

Seven of the injured have been admitted to the Bahraich Medical College.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Kunwar Gyananjay Singh, said prima facie the accident occurred as both vehicles were over speeding.PTI COR SAB
