Mumbai, Jan 30 (PTI): The fledgling retail sector can employ persons with disability and mainstreaming of such differently-abled people can help add about 5-7 percent to the GDP, according to a report.
The Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India, in association with British lender HSBC, launched a report that said 80 percent of the roles in retail sector are customer facing and hence employing disabled people can have a multi-prong impact.
Apart from providing employment to the people, it can also sensitise larger society about the challenges faced by the persons with disabilities, it said. ************ Air India Sats appoints R Rajamani as CEO
Air India SATS Airport Services (AISATS), the ground handling arm of the national carrier has appointed Ramanathan Rajamani as its new chief executive. Rajamani succeeds Mike Chew who headed the company since October 2015, a release issued here said. Digital payments platform Paytm has entered domestic hotel bookings space and said will invest over Rs 500 crore to expanding its portfolio.
The company has also acquired Nightstay, a luxury hotel-booking platform that offers deals on last-minute bookings, for an undisclosed amount.
