New Delhi, July 11 (PTI) An alleged pickpocket was arrested with the help of a traffic constable from east Delhi's Anand Vihar inter-state bus terminal (ISBT), the police said today.

Mohammad Ali, a resident of Ghaziabad, was arrested yesterday and a stolen mobile phone was recovered from him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Kumar Singh said.

The mobile phone of a Ghazipur resident, Mahesh Singh, was stolen while he was purchasing a ticket to Gurgaon at Anand Vihar ISBT, the DCP said.

Mahesh chased the pickpocket but could not catch him, he added.

A traffic constable, Devendra, who was on duty at the terminal's exit gate got suspicious about Mohammad's movements and immediately apprehended him, the DCP said.

During interrogation, Mohammad confessed to pocket picking at the Anand Vihar bus terminal, the officer added.

The accused was handed over to the local police and a case has been registered, he said.

With the arrest of Mohammad, the police claim to have solved six cases.
