The first trailer of Terrence Malick's next film, A Hidden Life has dropped on the internet. The movie starring August Diehl, Valerie Pachner, Maria Simon tells the true story of Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian farmer and devout Catholic who refused to fight for the Nazis during World War II and was subsequently punished. The 2-minutes 11-seconds long trailer is enough to make you feel butterflies in the stomach and a lump in the throat. At the same time. A Hidden Life doesn't just come across as a creative masterpiece from the word go, but it also seems like the film that will draw the audience to the theatres. Terrence Malick has always had the penchant for unique camera angles. A Hidden Life trailer, too, is brimming with beautiful visuals shot on unusual angles. Every single shot looks as if it has been carefully crafted to tell the story. Jörg Widmer has worked as the director of photography. We won't be surprised if a word is coined for Terrence's style of storytelling through such visuals. The background music in the trailer is amazing.
A Simple Life premiered earlier at Cannes 2019. The movie was unanimously loved by the critics with many saying that this is the writer/director's best work.
