2019 has been a landmark year when it comes to television shows, movies, digital series and also short films. We also saw the market open like never before for South Indian movies, not only in India but also worldwide. And here are some of the top-grossing Telugu movies of the year.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy:

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy starred south megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The movie's story is centred on the invasion of the British East India Company and how the emperor of Rayalaseema, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy brings together leaders of the other villages to fight the English invasion.

The film was shot on a budget of Rs 275 crores, but its worldwide collections have fallen approximately short of reaching the budget. The current approximate figure of the film's worldwide collection is Rs 246.6 crores. Despite it all, the movie is one of the top grosser of the Telugu Film Industry.

Saaho:

Saaho's marketing seems to have contributed a large margin in the movie's earnings, mainly because this movie was Prabhas' next venture after his world record-breaking movie Baahubali.

The movie also marked actress Shraddha Kapoor's south debut and was shot on a budget of a staggering Rs 350 crores. But with the movie having crossed approximately Rs 439 crores worldwide, Saaho also joins the list of Telugu movies that have done some tremendous business in 2019.

Maharshi:

While most of Mahesh Babu's movies are grossers, Maharshi makes it to this year's list of top-grossing films. The story about the lead hero and his love for his country, appealed big time to the masses.

The movie, that was made on a budget of Rs 100 crores, amassed Rs 176 crores worldwide.

Vineya Vidheya Rama:

Vinaya Vidheya Rama, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani and Vivek Oberoi was a different kinda Telugu thriller with politics and family as its backdrop.

Made on a budget of Rs 75 crores, the movie clocked a worldwide collection of Rs 97.9 crores.

Gaddalakonda Ganesh:

Gaddalakonda Ganesh, was the Telugu version of Valmiki, a film said to be inspired from the Tamil blockbuster Jigarthandaa, which starred actors Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles.

The action thriller film was made on a budget Rs 35 crores but minted approximately Rs 46 crores worldwide.

F2 - Fun and Frustration:

Yet another Varun Tej movie to make it to the top-grossing Telugu films of 2019 is F2 - Fun and Frustration, co-starring Venkatesh, Tamannaah Bhatia and Mehreen Pirzada.

The Telugu comedy that was all about the leading men and their misogynistic ways with their wives and how that lands them in trouble, was made on a budget of Rs 25 crores and earned a staggering Rs 137.6 crores worldwide approximately.

Majili:

Majili was the Telugu industry's power couple, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and Samantha Akkineni's first collaboration together after their wedding. The romance drama with sports as the background was a huge hit with the masses.

Made on a budget of Rs 22 crores, Majili minted Rs 58.45 crores worldwide.

In what can be called at attempt at blurring the lines, we will see a host of Bollywood actors make their south debuts, like Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in RRR, Kangana Ranaut in Thalaivi, Vidyut Jamwal in Indian 2, Suneil Shetty in Darbar among others. Now that's one helluva way to end the year.
