The end is near. Game of Thrones season 8 has begun its run and in less than 8 episodes we'd know who will rule the seven kingdoms as they sit on the iron thrones. The number of contenders is too high to even keep a track. But a fan has got to do what a fan has got to do. One of the unpopular theories regarding the one true King is that Gendry, of all people, might be it. In the new episode, we get a glimpse of Gendry, the blacksmith, striking a flirtatious conversation with Arya Stark. This was the two characters reunion after many seasons. Game of Thrones 8: Arya Stark-Gendry, Cersei Lannister-Euron Greyjoy – 5 Likely Romances We May Get to Watch in the Final Season.

Now, let us not forget that Gendry is not some ordinary blacksmith. He had more claim over the seven kingdoms than Joffrey, BTW. Gendry is Robert Baratheon's son, though illegitimate, while Joffrey was Jaime's son. While this little detail should be enough, there is more to this theory. Game of Thrones 8 Episode 1 Recap: From Shocking Nudity to Jon Snow’s Dragon Ride, 12 Best Moments in the First Episode of the Final Season (SPOILER ALERT).

When HBO released posters of characters sitting on the iron throne to promote the show, Gendry's poster was missing. Many believe that this was a deliberate attempt by the channel to throw fans off. [SPOILER] Game of Thrones 8 Premiere: Sansa Stark-Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow-Arya, Bran-Jaime - 5 Reunions that Steal the Show.

Back in season 1, it was Robert's wish to have his son married off to one of Ned Stark's daughter. All we know, his words might come true with Arya and Gendry, if not Sansa and Joffrey. Game of Thrones 8's episode 2 airs on April 22 in India. Stay tuned to LatestLY for all the updates.
