Sourav Ganguly, one of Indian cricket's greatest-ever captains, celebrates his 52nd birthday today. Born on July 08, 1972, in Kolkata, West Bengal, Ganguly made his international debut in 1992 and, four years later, went on to score a century on his test debut against England at the iconic Lord's. The left-hander went on to become an inspirational leader, taking up captaincy of Team India in 2000 when Indian cricket was hit by a match-fixing scandal. Ganguly is known for instilling a never-give-up attitude in Indian cricket and made the Men in Blue a formidable force, especially in overseas conditions. With the bat, Ganguly finished with nearly 19,000 runs in international cricket. He also led India to the final of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.
