The 2025-26 Premier League season has reached a fever pitch of managerial instability, with nine mid-season departures recorded as of late March. The most recent casualty, Tottenham Hotspur’s Igor Tudor, left the club by mutual consent on Sunday, 29 March, following a disastrous 44-day tenure. As the battle for survival and European qualification intensifies, boards across the division have shown unprecedented ruthlessness in their pursuit of immediate results. Tottenham Hotspur’s Turbulent Season
The departure of Igor Tudor marks the second mid-season managerial change for Tottenham Hotspur this year. Tudor was appointed in mid-February to replace Thomas Frank, who was dismissed after a run of just two wins in 17 matches.
Tudor’s reign lasted only seven games across all competitions and saw the club fail to record a single Premier League victory. The Croatian’s exit was complicated by personal tragedy, as he recently suffered the loss of his father, Mario. Spurs currently sit in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.
Nottingham Forest’s Revolving Door
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has overseen the most volatile dugout in the league this season. The club has cycled through three permanent managers since September.
Nuno Espírito Santo was the first to go, followed by a fleeting 39-day stint for Ange Postecoglou. Sean Dyche was subsequently brought in to stabilise the side but was himself sacked in February. The club is currently being led by Vítor Pereira, who had previously been dismissed by Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the campaign. Shifts at the ‘Big Six’
Manchester United and Chelsea have also undergone significant leadership changes. Ruben Amorim was sacked by United in January following a dispute with the recruitment department, leading to the appointment of former midfielder Michael Carrick.
At Stamford Bridge, Enzo Maresca left Chelsea by mutual consent on New Year’s Day. Despite guiding the team to a mid-table position, Maresca reportedly clashed with the board over long-term strategy. He was replaced by Liam Rosenior, who joined from the multi-club partner RC Strasbourg.
