Guwahati (Assam) [India], Apr 19 (ANI): Attacking Congress and former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi for working against the interest of the state and its people, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Friday said that the opposition was mindlessly accusing his party when they were the real culprits."We have taken forward the National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue, let me remind the people of Assam who allowed infiltrators in India, it was the Congress. Their CM, Tarun Gogoi, backed away from conducting NRC, it is now in its final stage under Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government. Those who allowed infiltration into Assam are telling us how to deal with infiltrators now," he said talking at a press conference here.On Congress' claims that the BJP government had failed to do good in the state, Madhav said that the allegations were baseless and the state government was doing a great job of cleaning up the affairs which had accumulated in the state."They are completely baseless allegations, this election is about Prime Minister Modi's government, they are talking about Sarbananda Sonowal government in the state. 15 years of misrule by the Congress, we are removing the kachra (garbage) the Congress had collected and which needed to be cleaned in Assam," Madhav said.Madhav also said that BJP is committed to implementing Clause 6 of the Assam accords when it comes back to power. He said that the allegations levied against BJP were purely political in nature and that the Congress was "a party fully identified with infiltrators.""If fighting for the better interest of the people of Assam is communalism, I wish better sense prevails on Tarun Gogoi who always sided with communal forces, ran away from implementing NRC and was hand in glove with infiltrators," he said.Speaking about BJP's prospects in the ongoing elections Madhav said that BJP was going to secure an even bigger win than 2014."There is a pan-Indian wave from Kerala to Kashmir in support of PM Modi, the BJP will once again secure as big a victory if not bigger than 2014 under his leadership," he added.Elections in Assam were held on April 11, 18 and will also be held on April 23. The counting of votes will begin on May 23. (ANI)
