Agartala, Jan 7 (PTI) Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has undergone a major rejig in its organisational structure, a senior leader said on Sunday.

The new TPCC executive committee consists of 75 members, with six leaders serving as vice-presidents, seven leaders as general secretaries, and 19 secretaries responsible for organisational matters, a statement by the party's All India general secretary KC Venugopal said.

Prominent party leaders such as Sudip Roy Barman, who is also a CWC member (invitee), Gopal Chandra Roy, Birajit Singha, both party MLAs, and former chief minister Samir Ranjan Barman have been included in the 41-member executive committee, the statement said.

The AICC has also approved the appointment of nine presidents for district Congress committees (DCCs).

Additionally, the AICC has announced a nine-member pradesh election committee, with TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha serving as its chairman.

Heavyweights Sudip Roy Barman, Samir Ranjan Barman, Birajit Singha, Gopal Chandra Roy, and D C Hrangkhawl are members of the election committee.

The presidents of four frontal organisations, including Youth Congress, Mohila Congress, and Seva Dal, have been made ex-officio members of the panel.
