New Delhi [India], November 11 (ANI): A man has been apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in Delhi's Bawana, police said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Sabir (50), a resident of Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh.

The victim narrated the ordeal to her mother, who, later, approached the police station and filed a complaint The incident took place on October 11 at Factory sector-3, Bawana, Delhi when the mother had gone to work.

The complainant (35) alleged that her 5-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted, police said.

A case was registered on October 25 based on the statement of the complainant.

The accused was booked under section 65 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

"The case was difficult to crack because we have only one clue i.e. name of the accused. For the last 15 days, our team has been conducting raids at industrial areas of Bawana, Delhi, Noida, Jhansi, Mahoba, and Kanpur (UP). Ultimately our team succeeded to nab him from the forest area of Hamirpur, UP," police said.

The accused was working as a casual labourer in the factory and lived next to the victim, police said.
