Kolkata, Feb 11 (PTI) A major fire, that broke out at a plastic chair manufacturing unit at Ghola in North 24- Parganas district on Monday, was brought under control after eight hours, a Fire Brigade official said.

There was no report of any casualty in the incident, the official said.

The manufacturing unit was completely gutted in the blaze which was extinguished a little after 8 pm, he said.

The fire broke out around noon and the entire area was covered with clouds of black smoke triggering panic among people, the official said.

Fire Brigade sources said that 25 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames at the manufacturing unit.

Fire Services Minister, Sujit Bose and Director General of Fire Services, Jagmohan supervised the fire fighting operations at the spot.

Since a huge quantity of plastic and other inflammable articles were stored in the premises, the firemen had a tough time to control the flame, the police said.
