Sharjah, Sep 20 (AP) Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat in the second one-day international against an inexperienced South Africa on Friday.
Afghanistan made just one change from its dominant six-wicket win in the first game of the three-match series and brought in batter Ikram Alikhil in place of allrounder Gulbadin Naib.
Temba Bavuma recovered from illness and returned to lead an understrength South Africa, which got bowled out for 106 in the first match and lost seven wickets for the first time in an ODI inside the first 10 overs.
Bavuma replaced Jason Smith, who was out without scoring in his debut game. Bowling all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo made way for 22-year-old leg-spinner Nqabayomzi Peter.
Frontline South Africa white-ball players are busy playing in the domestic T20 league in the West Indies while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada was rested for South Africa's maiden ODI series against Afghanistan.
Fast bowlers Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee were not considered for selection as they are recovering from injuries and are expected to return to international cricket in November.
