Aurangabad, Aug 31 (PTI) The Aurangabad district court in Maharashtra today sentenced a gangster and his accomplice to life imprisonment in a 2011 murder case.

Shaikh Imran Dilawar Shaikh Nazeer alias Imran Mehndi, a notorious gangster, had been sentenced to life by the same court on Monday for the murder of local NCP corporator Saleem Qureshi.

Special prosecuter Rajendra Mugdia said that Imran and and his accomplice Zaheer killed Shaikh Naser Shaikh Chand, a member of their gang, in 2011 on suspicion that he was a police informer.

The body was buried on a farm at village Sawangi near here.

The crime came to light during questioning after Imran was arrested in Qureshi's murder case, he said.

District judge V V Patil pronounced them guilty on Wednesday and the punishment was awarded today.
