The PM Kisan Saman Nidhi or PM-KISAN scheme is a flagship scheme of the Narendra Modi-led Central government that has been operational since December 1, 2018. What Is the PM KISAN Scheme?
According to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the PM KISAN website, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi yojana aims to provide income support to all landholding farmers' families nationwide to
supplement their financial needs so they can procure various inputs related to agriculture and allied activities, as well as domestic needs. Notably, the PM-Kisan Scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi on February 24, 2019.
What Is the Eligibility of the PM-KISAN Scheme?
To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi yojana, an applicant must be an Indan citizen and have a land which must be cultivable as per the land records maintained by the government. Additionally, the applicant's Aadhaar card must be linked with his bank account. Besides, the applicant farmer must not be an institutional landholder and should belong to a lower economic status group. That said, those who are active or retired from government jobs, pensioners with INR 10,000 per month or more, and professional taxpayers are not eligible under the PM KISAN scheme.
Documents Required for Registration
To be eligible to receive the benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi yojana, all farmers must complete their e-KYC via OTP or biometric verification. Farmers must also have an Aadhaar card. It must be noted that the Modi government had made e-KYC mandatory for farmers registered under the PM-Kisan scheme in order to obtain their instalments. How To Apply for the PM-KISAN Scheme

How To Register on the PM KISAN Portal?
- Visit the PM-Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in
- On the homepage, select the "New Farmer Registration" option under the "Farmers Corner" tab
- A new page will open
- Enter using Aadhaar, mobile number and state
- The portal will verify if the farmer is already registered on the portal or not
- Post this, select the "Rural Farmer Registration" or "Urban Farmer
- Registration" option for verification
- Enter your Aadhaar Number, select the state and enter the captcha
- Now, click on submit
- If the farmer's details are not found in the database, the page will display the confirmation and ask if you want to register yourself
- Select yes if you want to register
- A registration form will open
- Enter your personal and banking details and "save" the form
- Now, follow all the instructions shown on the page to complete the registration process

It is worth noting that farmers who have not completed eKYC or whose bank accounts are not linked with Aadhaar will not receive the instalment. One can complete eKYC online via OTP, through biometric verification at Common Service Centres, or using face authentication on the PM-Kisan mobile app. Aadhaar card, bank account details, land ownership proof, and a mobile number are the essential documents for PM KISAN registration and e-KYC. Only those farmers who fulfil these requirements will receive timely PM-KISAN payments.
