Guwahati, October 3: A low intensity earthquake was reported on Saturday night in Assam, the state located in Northeast of India. The tremors were felt in Kamrup region, which is roughly 40 km to the north of state capital Guwahati. Magnitude of the tremors that were felt in Kamrup region were measured of 3.9 magnitude on the richter scale. Seismic agencies confirmed that the earthquake was felt at 9:06 pm, as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).

The earthquake was reported a day after tremors of similar low intensity was reported in the neighbouring nation of Bhutan. A 3.7 magnitude quake was reported in the Himalayan nation last night, with the epicentre reported close to the capital city of Thimphu. No loss of lives or assets were reported.
