New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) The bodies of two sisters were found in a drain in Alipur area of northwest Delhi, police said Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Rukhsar (22) and Nabeela (20), they said.
The women were missing since the evening of September 19 and a case was registered in this connection at the Seelampur police station in northeast Delhi on September 21, the police said.
The sisters had left home saying they received a call regarding a job and left for a bus terminal at Kashmiri Gate but did not return, following which the family approached the police, a family member said.
The police informed the family on Monday night about the recovery of the bodies of the two women in Alipur.
Rukhsar who has been married since two years was living with her parents in Seelampur for last six months, the police said.
"Rukhsar's husband used to beat her. Fed up of his constant torture, she left his home. However, Rukhsar's husband tried to convince her to return with him, but she refused," the family member said.
The police said Rukhsar's husband lives in west Delhi's Paschim Vihar area and will be questioned in connection with the case.
Nabeela used to work at a private firm in Dilshad Garden, said the family member.
The case was transferred to northeast Delhi and will be probed by the Seelampur police station, Rajneesh Gupta, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) said.
