New Delhi [India], Feb 2 (ANI): Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Saturday highlighted the plight of a beggar who he claimed was an ex-serviceman and sought help from the government and the Army for him.The Defence Ministry responded quickly and assured the cricketer that there will be a “quick and complete” response to the issue.“He’s Mr Peethambaran,who served in the Indian Army in 1965 &1971 wars which can be verified by his ID. He claims due to technical reasons he can’t get support from d Army. I’d urge @adgpi @DefenceMinIndia @SpokespersonMoD to intervene as he is begging at A block Connaught Place,” Gambhir tweeted.Within a couple of hours, the Ministry responded by tweeting, “We appreciate the concern raised by you and assure that the response will be quick and complete.” (ANI)
