New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) A jewellery shop was allegedly looted Friday by unidentified men in south Delhi's Govindpuri area, police said.

They said four men came on two motorbikes and barged into the shop. They looted silver ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh before fleeing.

The identity of the accused are being ascertained. The owner claimed that some of them had masked their faces and one was carrying a country-made pistol, police said.

The CCTV cameras installed inside the shop were not functional, however, police are looking for footage from the adjoining areas to nab the culprits, they added. PTI AMP

153 booked for drinking in public place

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PT) The Delhi Police has booked 153 people under the excise act for drinking at public places in outer north district, officials said Friday.

A drive under Excise Act was conducted on Thursday against people drinking in public places, they said.

Eight police stations of Outer North district were tasked to nab violators from vehicles, near markets, dark stretches and parks, police said. PTI AMP ********************

Four held for burgling houses in Delhi

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) Four men were arrested for allegedly burgling houses in west Delhi's Dwarka area, police said Friday.

Police said they analysed CCTV footage of Baba Haridas Nagar area and arrested Praveen (19), Deewan (24), Rahul (22) and Dharambir (19) on July 6.

Accused said that they used to roam in different areas and identify their target once they were sure there was no risk involved, police said.

One TV, one inverter, four car batteries and one rickshaw was recovered from their possession, police said, adding that efforts are on to trace their other associates. PTI NIT

Two arrested for stealing vehicles, robbing mobile phones

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) Two alleged members of a gang were arrested for allegedly stealing vehicles and robbing mobile phones from people in central Delhi, police said Friday.

According to police, they arrested Vinay (28) and Vikas (27) from Paharganj area on Wednesday while patrolling in the locality.

Five scooters, 12 mobile phones, one country-made pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from their possession, they added.
