Ahmedabad, Nov 28 (PTI) Ahmedabad district in Gujarat on Saturday reported 357 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the count of infections to 49,420, state health department said.

With ten more patients succumbing to the infection, the total toll in the district rose to 2,036, it said.

At 378, the number of recoveries outnumbered fresh COVID-19 cases in the day.

Ahmedabad city reported 351 recoveries as against 332 new cases, while 27 patients were discharged in the day in rural areas against 25 fresh additions, the department said in a release.

Out of seven zones in Ahmedabad, the north-west zone has 502 active cases, followed by 473 in the west zone, 460 in the south-west zone, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation said, adding the western part of the city has the highest number of cases.

Meanwhile, the number of micro-containment areasin Ahmedabad rose to 293, the civic body said.

The municipal corporation said active surveillance will be carried out in new areas to detect new cases, and movement in these areas will be restricted, it said.
