Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 13 (ANI): Four army soldiers were injured in a gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's (J-K) Kishtwar district on Friday, said officials.

"Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched in area Chatroo at Kishtwar. A contact has been established with the terrorists at 1530 hrs. In the ensuing firefight, four army personnel have been injured. The operation is in progress," posted White Knight Corps of Indian Army on X.

According to Indian Army officials, "Four Indian Army soldiers have been injured in the ongoing encounter with terrorists in Kishtwar. One of the injured has been evacuated to the nearby Command Hospital for treatment, while three are being treated locally."

"The security forces have cordoned off the area and operations are still going on. More details awaited," said the officials.

Security has been heightened in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar following the encounter between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of Naidgham village.

Earlier this evening, an encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K), officials said.

"Encounter underway between security forces and terrorists at Pingnal Dugadda forest area, upper reaches of Naidgham village under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chhatroo, district Kishtwar," J-K Police said.

Security forces had engaged in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the same forest area Friday evening.

Meanwhile, two terrorists were neutralised and large, warlike stores were recovered following a joint operation by troops of the Indian Army's Rising Star Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir police.
