Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 20 (ANI): Four people lost their lives after a truck heading for Rajasthan from Srinagar plunged into a gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Jhajjar Kotli area, said police.

The accident resulting in the death of four people occurred on Thursday night, said police.

The visuals from the spot showed the truck to be in a completely destroyed condition.

Earlier, in May, at least ten people were killed and around 55 were injured in a similar incident where a bus fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

According to officials, the bus was on its way to Katra from Amritsar when the incident took place near Jhajjar Kotli - about 15 km from Katra in Jammu district.

"10 people died and around 55 were injured," said SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli.

The SSP further added that the bus was carrying more passengers than the prescribed limit. (ANI)
