New Delhi [India], September 30 (ANI): The State Election Commissioner of Delhi and Chandigarh Vijay Dev met with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday to discuss crucial matters relating to the electoral process.

During the meeting, Vijay Dev and the President engaged in a constructive dialogue on various aspects of the 3rd tier constitutional electoral setup of State Election Commissions at the state level across India especially in Delhi and Chandigarh, strengthening the institution of State Election Commission, and the challenges and opportunities for strengthening grass-root democracy to make them robust tools of effective empowerment of people, according to a press release by the State Election Commission of Delhi.

During the meeting, Vijay Dev expressed appreciation for the President’s commitment to upholding the democratic principles of India and ensuring transparent and credible elections, according to the release.

During the meeting, Dev also reiterated the commitment of the State Election Commissions to carry out their responsibilities in an impartial manner, ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process with the active participation of the people, the release read. (ANI)
