Hazaribag (Jharkhand), May 11 (PTI) Three people, including a seven-year-old boy, died in lightning strikes at three places in Hazaribag district on Saturday, police said.

The minor boy and a 30-year-old woman were killed in Barakagaon block of the district after a hailstorm accompanied by thunderbolts lashed the area in the afternoon, a police officer said.

The woman was going to a paddy field to work and the minor was on his way to a market to sell vegetables when they were struck by lightning.

Meanwhile, a man was killed after lightning struck him in a village Keraderi block.

The bodies were taken to Sheikh Bhikari Medical College and Hospital, Hazaribag, for post-mortem examination, the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Barkagaon, Kuldeep Kumar, said.

The Hazaribag town plunged into darkness for hours as six uprooted trees snapped power lines, an official said.

Power was restored in parts of the town till the last reports came in.
