Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 26 (ANI): Four persons have been arrested by Uttarakhand police for their alleged involvement in the illegal slaughter of cattle.

The accused have been identified as Jagir (22), Sameer (19), Rahim (25) and Azad (27).

According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, Ajay Singh, "The Uttarakhand Police have arrested 4 persons for their involvement in the transportation of animals for illegal slaughter and for illegally selling the cattle meat in different police station areas."

"Following the arrest of the four accused, we were able to seize the accused's illegally stored animal meat for sale, tools used to butcher animals, and animals maintained for slaughter," said the official.

SSP Singh further said that a case has been registered against the four accused under the Animal Cruelty and Arms Act.

"All the criminals involved in crimes like illegal animal slaughter, animal cruelty, cow slaughter and illegal sale of animal meat will not be spared. All such criminals who are involved in these acts will be prosecuted. Strict action will be taken against them," said Ajay Singh. (ANI)
