New Delhi, Mar 27 (PTI) A 23-your old youth from Delhi's Uttam Nagar who was missing for over a month is now believed to have been allegedly killed by two friends, an officials said on Thursday.

Police said Raja Kumar Mehto (31) and Praveen Kumar (40) allegedly killed Vishal Kumar over an old dispute, he said. He was allegedly stabbed to death in a secluded spot in Nawada on February 21.

Vishal's mother lodged a missing complaint at the Dwarka South Police Station on February 28, seven days after he went missing.

"During the investigation, police collected information from locals. On March 19, a case was registered and further investigation was taken up," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said in a statement.

The officer further said that multiple teams were formed and CCTV footage was scrutinised which eventually led to the identification and apprehension of the two suspects.

During interrogation, Raja and Praveen initially denied any role in the killing but later confessed to the crime. They said Vishal allegedly used to take items from their homes and refused to return them, read the statement.

The duo plotted his murder and called him to an abandoned building in Nawada village under the pretext of taking drugs.

"On February 21, they took drugs together at a secluded location. When Vishal was drugged, Raja Kumar held him from behind while Praveen stabbed him with a skewer," the DCP said.

Police discovered that a decomposed body was found at the same location on March 5 but remained unidentified at the time. After their confession, the accused led the police to the crime scene, confirming the victim's identity.

A forensic team had previously examined the body and collected evidence. Following their arrest, police recovered the deceased's mobile phone and the murder weapon.

Police said while Praveen Kumar, a driver by profession, has no prior criminal record, Raja Kumar, a labourer, has nine previous cases against him, mostly related to theft and robbery.
