San Jose [Costa Rica], Mar 9 (ANI): Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday met President of the Congress of the Republic of Costa Rica, Carolina Hidalgo Herrera, and discussed the possibility of best parliamentary practices and increasing exchanges between the two countries.Ministry of External Affairs' official spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted: "VP @MVenkaiahNaidu met with President of the Congress of Costa Rica Ms Carolina Hidalgo Herrera. Discussed sharing best parliamentary practices & increasing exchanges. VP looked forward to parliamentary delegation visit from CR"Naidu pushed for closer trade ties between India and Costa Rica during India's first VVIP visit to the Central American country. He also invited Hidalgo to India."India & Costa Rica have close ties, based on shared commitment to democracy, pluralism, multiculturalism, freedom of Press& equitable human rights," the Vice President tweeted."A conversation between the elected representatives of India and Costa Rica is a dialogue between our peoples. I have invited HE. Ms. Carolina Hidalgo to lead a parliamentary delegation to India," Naidu added.The Vice President is on his first official visit to Costa Rica from March 7 to 9. He had earlier paid a two-day visit to Paraguay from March 5 to 7.Naidu is scheduled to meet with the Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada amongst other leaders during his stay.On Thursday, Naidu was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the University for Peace founded by the United Nations Organisations (UNO) for his contribution “to the Rule of Law, democracy and sustainable development in India”.India and Costa Rica signed and exchanged two documents following talks between Naidu and Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada on Friday.Naidu is scheduled to emplane for India on March 9, wrapping up the first high-level, five-day visit from India to Paraguay and Costa Rica.
