The broken friendship between Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and Samajwadi Party MP Amar Singh is the kind of stuff movies are made of. Once upon a time, which was around in the '90s to the early '2000s, they were thick as thieves. There won't be any public function that Amitabh Bachchan would be attending without Amar Singh in tow, even if his own family members wouldn't be accompanying him. Amar Singh is said to have helped Amitabh Bachchan during his deep financial crisis period in the '90s, when the superstar had gone nearly bankrupt, till Kaun Banega Crorepati and Mohabbatein revived his career. Amitabh Bachchan Birthday Special: 10 Memorable Times the Bollywood Legend Played Himself in Movies.

Circa 2019, we are not even sure if Amar Singh and Amitabh Bachchan are on talking terms anymore. It is not exactly sure how things soured between them, but even after so many years, Amar Singh is seething. Look no further beyond the birthday tweet that the Rajya Sabha MP had posted for Amitabh Bachchan on October 11.

As you can see above, it is less of a birthday wish, and more of a reminder to Amitabh Bachchan about his past dark days, and how only one man was with him during the crisis, prioritising him over his own family - Amar Singh. At the time of writing this article, Amitabh Bachchan is yet to respond to this birthday 'wish'. Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates Sand Art For Amitabh Bachchan's 77th Birthday on Odisha's Puri Beach, View Pic.

Talking more about what caused the split, some gossip that goes around blames Big B's wife Jaya Bachchan for this. Interestingly it was Amar Singh, who introduced Jaya Bachchan into politics. In an earlier interview to ABP, Amar Singh spoke about his non-friendship with the Bachchans. He had said then, "People blame me for every possible rift in the country. When the Ambanis split, they projected me as the person who created the Mahabharat between them. It wasn't me. People have said the same about me and the Bachchans. But even before I met Amitabh Bachchan, he and Jaya Bachchan were living separately. One of them was living in Pratiksha and the other lives in his other bungalow Janak. There were also speculations about a problem between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jaya. I am not responsible for that."

On other occasions too, Amar Singh didn't stop himself from ranting against his former friend, but refrained from telling what exactly went wrong. However, when Amitabh Bachchan was asked to respond to this, he simply steered away from making any dour remarks on his former pal.
