Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has defended Salman Khan’s attendance at an RSS event in Mumbai, saying there was nothing wrong with an Indian citizen attending a public programme. He urged political leaders not to politicise the actor’s presence, amid a growing political row in the state.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has spoken in support of Bollywood actor Salman Khan following criticism over his attendance at an event organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Mumbai. Shinde said there was nothing inappropriate about Khan attending a public programme and urged leaders not to politicise the issue. “Salman Khan is an Indian citizen. He respects Indian culture and even installs Lord Ganesha at home. I don’t see anything wrong in him attending Mohan Bhagwat’s programme,” Shinde said. His remarks came after minister Nitesh Rane’s comments sparked a political controversy, drawing criticism from opposition parties and escalating tensions in Maharashtra’s political landscape. ‘Salman Khan Is a Bigger Hindu Than Uddhav Thackeray’: Nitesh Rane Slams Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Over RSS Centenary Event Absence (Video).
