Basel, Mar 13 (PTI) India's Subhankar Dey beat qualifier Lucas Claerbout of France in straight games to advance to the second round of Swiss Open badminton tournament here Wednesday.
Dey beat 21-19 21-17 in a 48-minute match to set up a second round clash against fifth seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.
However, in the women's singles, India's Vrushali Gummadi lost 12-21 23-21 17-21 to Kristin Kuuba of Estonia in her first round match.
In the men's doubles, the Indian pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy also lost to German duo of David Duagaard and Federik Sogaard 21-18 17-21 10-21.
