Panchkula (Haryana) [India], July 8 (ANI): Haryana Roadways has suspended the driver and the conductor of the bus which overturned near Pinjore in the Panchkula district earlier this morning.

The bus driver went absconding after the accident while the conductor who suffered injuries in the incident is under medical treatment at a government hospital in Pinjore.

The injured students were promptly admitted to the government hospital in Pinjore after the incident.

Around 40 school students sustained injuries after a Haryana Roadways bus overturned near Naulata village of Pinjore town earlier today.

Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Dr Yash Garg shared information about the same and said, "Many people were seated in the bus including school children when the bus overturned. Our focus was on rescuing the victims, we are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident. All children are stable and escaped without any critical injuries."

"Around 30 children have been brought to the Civil Hospital, the others are under observation in Pinjore. 4 adults have also been brought to the civil hospital including a 60-year-old woman who sustained a crush injury on her arm. Police are investigating the matter. A total of 50 children have been admitted for treatment in Pinjore as well as Panchkula," Garg said.

Panchkula CMO Dr Mukta Kumar also shared details and said, "46 injured have been admitted to the Pinjore Polyclinic since morning, 22 out of which have been referred here. Out of all the patients, only 3 are adults, the rest are children. The situation is under control, for now, all patients are stable. The whole team of doctors is available in the hospital."

As per the police, the accident was caused due to overspeeding by the bus driver.

The bus was also filled beyond its capacity with passengers. Hence, overloading and poor road conditions have been attributed as additional reasons for the accident. (ANI)
