Rajkot (Gujarat) [India], September 7 (ANI): A large number of people participated in the Shobha Yatra taken out by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami in Gujarat’s Rajkot district on Thursday morning.
A VHP leader said, “The VHP organized a Shobha Yatra in Rajkot’s Mahanagar district. More than 150 floats are a part of the yatra, out of which one consists of Chandrayaan-3".

He said “Our main theme is Shishupal Vadh. Devotees on two-wheelers also joined our yatra, along with the Dhun mandal. All devotees are requested to be a part of the yatra.”
Various floats highlighting Lord Krishna's life were the main attractions of the yatra.
A large number of people gathered on the roadside to get glimpses of the yatra.
Devotees were seen offering prayers at the Dwarkadish temple. The idols of Radha Krishna were decorated with flower petals and leaves.
Every year, the festival of Janmashtami is celebrated by Hindus to mark the birth of Lord Krishna, the God who is the embodiment of playfulness and innocence.
As per the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. The day mostly falls in the months of August or September, as per the Western calendar.
The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated by offering prayers to Lord Krishna, with beautifully decorated swings, dance and music performances, and the 'Dahi-Handi' competition. (ANI)
