Day 7 of the Asian Games 2018 proved to be a fruitful day for India thanks to Tejinderpal Singh Toor, who clinched the men's shot put gold with a record-breaking throw to win India's first medal in athletics in the Asian Games. The 23-year-old threw the iron ball to 20.75m and clinched gold, setting a national record in the process. He broke the record of 20.69m which belonged to Om Prakash Karhana.Earlier, squash player Dipika Pallikal took home a bronze medal. Dipika lost her women's singles semi-final 0-3 to Nicol David of Malaysia. Joshna Chinappa helped with another squash bronze to the Indian tally. The 31-year-old player, lost 1-3 to 19-year-old Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia.India's athletics camping had a better start with Muhammed Anas and Arokia Rajiv qualifying for the men's 400m semi-finals. Muhammed Anas topped heat 1 with a timing of 45.63 seconds, and Arokia Rajiv took the second spot in heat 4 with a timing of 46.82. Hima Das breaks national record in the Women’s 400m Qualifiers. Hima Das clocked 51.00 seconds to claim the National Record in women's 400m qualifiers, finishing second to Bahrain's Salwa Naser (50.86) in the heats. She will play in the final tomorrow. Hima Das on Saturday broke the national record in the Women’s 400m Qualifiers. Hima Das clocked 51.00 seconds to claim the National Record in women's 400m qualifiers, finishing second to Bahrain's Salwa Naser (50.86) in the heats. She will play in the final tomorrow.India's medal tally on Day 7 touched 29 after Tajinder Singh Toor won Gold in Men's Shot Put event. India is 8th on the overall medal's tally with 7 Gold, 5 Silver and 17 Bronze medals.
