The AIIMS-ICMR Covid-19 National Task Force heading the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in India has removed convalescent plasma therapy from its recommended list of treatments for patients who have contracted coronavirus. All the members of the task force - which includes senior officials, scientists and top doctors - were in favour of removing plasma therapy from the treatment guidelines, news agency PTI reported. The second wave of the pandemic saw frantic cries of help on social media for sourcing plasma as record numbers of patients landed in hospitals due to severe infections. However, the medical fraternity was severely divided over the effectiveness of the experimental procedure.
