Pune, Apr 18 (PTI)Punedistrict in Maharashtra reported 12,707 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking its infection tally to 7,22,476, a health official said.

The death toll due to the virus reached 11,428 as 116 patients succumbed to the infection, he said.

"Of the 12,707 new cases, 6,434 were from areas within the PuneMunicipal Corporation (PMC) limits, where the caseload has grown to 3,67,237," the official added.

A total of 4,712 patients recovered from the infection in the district during the day.

With 2,830 new cases, the case count in Pune city's neighbouring industrial township of Pimpri Chinchwad is 1,83,746 now.
