Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 30 (ANI): West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday condoled the loss of lives in the Howrah-Mumbai train accident near Jharkhand's Chakradharpur and wished a speedy recovery for those who sustained injuries in the mishap.

Two people were killed after several coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand earlier today.

"HG has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wishes fast recovery of those injured in the Howrah-CSMT Express train derailment near Jharkhand's Chakradharpur today," Raj Bhavan Media Cell said in a post on X.

Senior DCM Chakradharpur Railway Division, Aditya Kumar Chaudhary has informed that all the passengers have been evacuated and have been shifted to Chakradharpur by special trains and buses.

He further said that two people have died and five injured are being treated at railway hospital.

He added that the rescue operation is complete and restoration is going on.

"Train no 12810 Howrah-Mumbai got derailed...All the passengers have been evacuated and have been shifted to Chakradharpur by special trains and buses. The special train will run from Chakradharpur to Mumbai as per the detailed timings. Two people have died and five injured are being treated at railway hospital...Rescue operation is completed and restoration is going on," Chaudhary told ANI.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned the BJP-led central government over the Howrah-Mumbai Mail train accident that took two lives and called the accident "disastrous."

"Another disastrous rail accident! Howrah-Mumbai mail derails in Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand today early morning, multiple deaths and a huge number of injuries are the tragic consequences," the West Bengal Chief Minister posted on X.

"I seriously ask: is this governance? This series of nightmares almost every week, this unending procession of deaths and injuries on railway tracks: for how long shall we tolerate this? Will there be no end to the callousness of the Government of India?!" Mamata Banerjee said.

"My heart goes out to the bereaved families, condolences to the next of kin," she said.

The accident took place around 3:45 am, after which Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME), with staff and Additional Divisional Railway Managers CKP (Chakradharpur Railway Station), reached on-site to manage the situation. (ANI)
