Australia vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 4th Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 44.5 ENG: 196/10

Pat Cummins is caught up on the sidelines by Mark Taylor. The seamer says that due to the rain earlier in the afternoon, they got good conditions to bowl on at the start. He is pleased with his performance with the ball. Admits that they looked on improving over the first two games and is glad that they did well. Further adds that today was one of those days where things came well for you. Opines that when the opposition is down, it sounds easy to knock them over quickly but the tail often wags in such situations. Credits Chris Woakes for his innings. States he has no qualms in being the first change bowler when Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood take the new ball from either ends. Reckons batting normally should get his side home. Ends stating that Head can do well in Finch's absence, which shouldn't hurt his side.

Pat Cummins easily was the star of the show. He ran amok with his new ball partner Josh Hazlewood and decimated England. Together, they hunted down seven wickets between them, while Andrew Tye picked the remaining ones towards the end. This pitch looks like a batting beauty, however the scoreline at the start didn't do justice to that. The way Chris Woakes and Tom Curran batted, the indications were there of this being a track excellent for stroke making. Let's see how Australia approach their chase as the low targets are often tricky to get. Do join us in a short while.

The visiting side further raised two fifty partnerships, in which, Chris Woakes played a big hand. He, by far, was the best batsman on show for the tourists, stroking yet another half century and giving England something to bowl at. Tom Curran also played a useful hand, scoring 35 runs, which also is the highest score by an English number 10 since January 2006.

Have to say, it's been a great recovery from England. They were down and out very early in their innings after losing half their batting unit for only 8 runs. The deadly duo of Hazlewood and Cummins did all the damage initially and made a complete mockery of the English top order. The hosts did relax a bit after that and England managed a half century stand between Moeen Ali and Eoin Morgan to bring sanity amidst the storm.

44.5 W

Andrew Tye to Tom Curran. OUT! ENGLAND BOWLED OUT FOR 196 RUNS with 31 balls remaining. The knuckle ball does the business for Tye. He delivers it pinpoint on middle and Curran mistimes his flick shot straight into the hands of Mitchell Marsh at short mid-wicket. He makes no mistake and that's all ladies and gentlemen from England with the bat.

44.4 4

Andrew Tye to Tom Curran. FOUR! Another fine shot by the number 10. He makes room for this one as it lands on a fuller length around off. After that he unfurls a lovely cover drive for a boundary. Vital runs, these.

Andrew Tye to Chris Woakes. OUT! End of an outstanding knock! Woakes departs after failing to read the slower ball by Tye. It's served to him on a shortish length wide outside off and he tries to go downtown. However, due to the lack of pace, he is a bit early into the shot and his bat turns in his hands. As a result, he fails to get proper connection and Maxwell (sub) runs across to his left from long on to complete the catch safely. Rise and applaud for this knock by the English all-rounder when the chips were down. He has given something to bowl at for England. Let's see how much Mark Wood contributes to the cause.

40.4 6

Marcus Stoinis to Chris Woakes. SIX! Is he very well set or what? Length ball angling in, Woakes plays the short arm jab and picks it up over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen. Amazing to see that the ball travels the distance in spite of the fact that not much of power was used really.

Pat Cummins to Adil Rashid. OUT! 100th international catch for Tim Paine! It looks a bit strange knowing that as Tim Paine is not a regular face in the Aussie setup. Cummins delivers it on a length outside off, Rashid pushes at it away from his body and edges it behind. A simple catch to the keeper. A half-hearted attempt really by the leggie. He lets out a short ball on middle, Moeen fails to resist the temptation to pull it and goes for it. Makes good connection and it seems to be sailing over the ropes. But no, the elevation is not quite there and it finds Travis Head at deep square leg with precision. He grabs the catch near the fence, realizes that the momentum is pushing him beyond the rope and tosses the ball up. Takes a step back to cross the rope and then comes back to catch the ball easily. Chris Woakes is the next batter in. He is on the back of a wonderfully-played half century. A similar outing would please his side to no end.

21.3 W

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. OUT! Pat Cummins breaks the 53-run association. Morgan and his troubles with the short balls continue. Banged short around leg, he is caught unawares. Still decides to go with the pull and only manages a glove to the keeper. Paine has another dismissal to his credit, his 99th in international cricket. Further analysis by the on-air commentators show that the English skipper's initial trigger movement didn't help his cause either. He has a small movement backward before coming forward and hence is caught in a tangle here. Nevertheless, England back to being in mushy waters, if ever you thought they were out of it.

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. Length ball on the stumps, defended from the crease.

21.1 0

20.2 1

Adam Zampa to Moeen Ali. Real applause now, as the 50-run partnership between Morgan and Ali comes up. These two have done well to stick it out in the middle, even though neither of them has looked entirely convincing. Ali pushes this delivery to long on to rotate strike.

20.1 1

Adam Zampa to Eoin Morgan. Flatter on the pads, worked away through square leg for one.

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. Swept straight to square leg for nothing.

18.5 4

17.6 0

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. Ali lets it come on and dead-bats it.

17.5 3

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Edgy Morgan! He gets an inside edge past the leg stick to this length delivery. Before the ball is returned back, one run less than a boundary is taken. 40-run stand now between Ali and Morgan.

17.4 2

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. This time Eoin pulls it well through mid-wicket for a brace.

17.3 1

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. This ball is flicked away off his pads for one.

17.2 1

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Good morning, Hazlewood! What was he doing there? Morgan looks to pull this short length ball but is hurried into it. Ends up getting it towards mid-wicket. Josh seems to have given this up well before he tried as he just ambled to his left from mid on and the ball wasn't too far from him. Remember, he isn't the best of the lot on the field as the memories of a dolly being dropped in the Ashes come back.

17.1 0

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Bowled outside off, cut towards backward point.

End of Over : 17 3 Runs ENG: 41/5
16.6 0

Travis Head to Moeen Ali. Ali comes down the track to this ball around off and stonewalls it.

16.5 1

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. Nicely done. Serves around middle and leg, Morgan prods forward and just times his push down the ground for one.

16.1 0

Travis Head to Eoin Morgan. Floated on the stumps, pushed defensively towards mid on.

Spin for the first time. Travis Head is brought into the attack, ahead of Adam Zampa. This might be considering the fact that two southpaws are in the middle.

15.5 0

15.2 0

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.

15.1 1

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Short ball, pulled away through square leg for one.

Drinks time! No doubt who is ruling the roost an hour into the game. Australia came out all guns blazing, pinning England down to 8/5, before being helped by the current pair to get to where they have now. It is imperative for England to have a phase where they do not let any further wicket fall, in order to frustrate the opposition and have their own way.

End of Over : 15 10 Runs ENG: 35/5
14.6 4

Andrew Tye to Moeen Ali. FOUR! One brings two, they say, for a wicket. Seems true in this case for a boundary. After all the raves and rants for 14 overs about no boundaries being hit, we have two in this over and both from the 'out-of-form' Ali's blade. Tye bowls this short around middle, Moeen stays back and pulls it through mid-wicket. This stand is now worth 27.

14.2 0

Andrew Tye to Moeen Ali. Outside off, defended towards backward point.

14.1 0

Andrew Tye to Moeen Ali. Ali stays back and blocks this one from the crease.

End of Over : 14 3 Runs ENG: 25/5
13.6 1

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. A low full toss outside off, hit straight to sweeper to retain strike.

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. Ali feels for this delivery outside off and gets beaten.

13.4 0

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. Fuller on off, pushed towards covers.

13.3 0

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. The batsman defends it from within the crease.

Morgan has danced down the track, tried to drive from the crease and tried what not to score. Yet he is out there batting on 14 from 36. That's what the on-air commentators observed. He hasn't looked steady yet is fortunate enough to be in the middle. One school of thought says that he should calm down, defend well and play himself in before going for his shots. The other one says that, if you stand and try to defend, there will eventually be a ball with your name on it. Thus, it is better to attack your way out. What to do?

13.2 1

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Eoin plays it with soft hands to the off side and gets across to the other end.

13.1 1

Mitchell Marsh to Moeen Ali. Ali pats it towards mid-wicket and ambles to the other end.

End of Over : 13 1 Runs ENG: 22/5
12.6 0

12.4 0

Andrew Tye to Eoin Morgan. This ball is driven to mid on for nothing.

12.3 0

Andrew Tye to Eoin Morgan. Full and spearing in, Morgan is beaten for pace as he looks to keep it out. Gets rapped on the front leg which draws an appeal from the bowler. The umpire negates it as all the three stumps are visible.

12.2 0

Andrew Tye to Eoin Morgan. Fuller in length, angling away from Morgan. He drives it on the up on the bounce to mid off.

12.1 1

Andrew Tye to Moeen Ali. Length ball on the pads to start off, Ali tucks it smartly through backward square leg and gets to the other end.

Andrew Tye to run in with the ball now.

End of Over : 12 0 Runs ENG: 21/5

11.5 0

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Strides forward and drives it straight to mid off.

11.3 0

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Eoin shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.

11.2 0

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Morgan dances down to this full ball and hits it straight to mid off.

11.1 0

Mitchell Marsh to Eoin Morgan. Begins with a ball on a length around off and middle, defended down the ground.

Mitchell Marsh is brought into the attack now. Interesting choice from Smith, as he feels he has a control over the proceedings and hence hands the ball to Marsh, who can be your fourth or fifth or even sixth bowler. Today, he is brought ahead of Andrew Tye.

End of Over : 11 3 Runs ENG: 21/5
10.6 1

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Length delivery on the pads, nudged through backward square leg for one. This stand is now worth 13.

10.2 0

Josh Hazlewood to Moeen Ali. Moeen stands tall and presents a straight bat in defense.

10.1 1

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Morgan is edging, jumping and dancing. Anything apart from looking convincing. This time, he gets this fuller delivery through square leg via an inside edge for one.

Time for Powerplay 2. A maximum of four fielders can be outside the inner circle till the 40th over.

End of Over : 10 4 Runs ENG: 18/5
9.6 3

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. Excellent effort from Warner to keep England without a boundary at the end of the first Powerplay. This one is nicely punched past mid off, from where David chases this down and saves a run for his side.

9.5 0

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. This is outside off, EM leaves it alone.

9.4 0

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. Bumper on the stumps, Eoin lets it be.

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Eoin defends it to the off side and gets to the other end quickly.

8.3 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. The batsman was beaten and missed the line of the delivery.

8.2 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Plenty happening here. Morgan comes down the track to this one and fails to get bat to that. The ball hits his front pad and rolls towards the slip cordon, from where Smith has a shy at the striker's end but misses.

8.1 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Strong appeal, turned down. Length ball around leg, striking Morgan on the pads as he looks to flick it. The appeal is turned down as the ball seems to be pitching outside leg. Also, Morgan signaled that he had hit it.

End of Over : 8 3 Runs ENG: 13/5
7.6 0

Pat Cummins to Moeen Ali. This is outside off, left alone.

7.5 0

Pat Cummins to Moeen Ali. Banged short on the stumps, Ali ducks.

7.3 1

Pat Cummins to Moeen Ali. Good running. Ali taps it towards covers and gets to the other end.

7.2 0

Pat Cummins to Moeen Ali. Outside off, left alone.

7.1 1

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. This is punched through covers for one.

End of Over : 7 2 Runs ENG: 10/5
6.6 1

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Didn't imagine myself writing this anytime but here it is. ENGLAND REACH DOUBLE FIGURES! Applause! Not in a commanding way though. Short in length, Morgan is hurried into the pull. Ends up getting it aerially in front of square for one. Wonderful start from the Aussie seamers. Who needs Starc when these two can do what they are doing now! No boundaries yet, 7 overs gone. ODI match.

6.5 1

Josh Hazlewood to Moeen Ali. Ali gets off the mark. A consolation for him, considering 4 batters have got out for ducks. He flicks it through mid-wicket to get to the other end.

6.4 0

Josh Hazlewood to Moeen Ali. This is well outside off, left alone.

6.3 0

Josh Hazlewood to Moeen Ali. Beaten! Length ball slanting away, Ali hops and hangs his bat out, is fortunate that the ball passed without making contact with the blade.

Moeen Ali walks in next. He's not in the best of forms and by the looks of it, this isn't a situation that such a batter would like.

6.2 W

Josh Hazlewood to Jos Buttler. OUT! Are we watching an Australia-England game or an Australia-minnows game? Half the English side is back in the dugout without even getting to double digits. Test-match bowling says Michael Clarke on air. On a length just around off, nibbling away just a touch. Buttler did no wrong there by standing back and hanging his bat in defense. The ball moves away to grab the thin outer edge and goes straight to Paine behind. Such is the quality of the delivery that as a batsman, you just have to laud it and walk away and that's precisely what Jos does. England in trouble? Understatement.

6.1 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jos Buttler. Straight delivery outside off, Buttler gets his bat out of the way and lets it be.

End of Over : 6 2 Runs ENG: 8/4
5.6 0

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. Pushed towards covers and a huge shout of NO heard from Morgan immediately. Another over where just two runs and a wicket have come off it.

5.5 0

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. This is well outside off, Eoin minds his own business and lets it be.

5.4 2

Pat Cummins to Eoin Morgan. Fuller in length, driven nicely down the ground. Gets a couple for doing so.

Jos Buttler, the centurion of the previous match, is out in the middle at number 6.

5.3 W

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. OUT! The scorecard shows 6/4. Guess the runs and the wickets yourself. What are the visitors upto here? Short ball around off and middle, Root goes for the pull instinctively. Is not in control and ends up getting a top edge. Hazlewood at fine leg just has to take a couple of steps forward and settles under it before gobbling it up. Looking at the way this is going, we could have this innings ending before the 15th over.

5.2 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. Fuller on off, dead-batted towards covers.

5.1 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. Around off, defended towards point.

End of Over : 5 2 Runs ENG: 6/3
4.6 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Outside off, left alone. Just a couple and a wicket in this over, to follow the wicket maiden from Pat.

4.5 2

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Morgan off the mark. Drives this one nicely through the cover region for a brace to get going.

4.4 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Similar delivery, blocked off the front foot.

4.3 0

Josh Hazlewood to Eoin Morgan. Length ball angling away, Morgan gets a small stride forward and plays it towards covers.

The skipper Eoin Morgan certainly wouldn't have dreamt of batting as soon as in the 5th over. Here he is, taking strike against a firing Josh.

4.2 W

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. OUT! Another one gone! England, where are you? Well, New England, where art thou? Hazlewood bowls it full and outside off. Just a hint of movement away. Bairstow goes for the cover drive without any footwork and pays the price. A thick outside edge is found and the ball settles in nicely in Paine's gloves. Jonny departs for a 9-ball duck. National Day and the hosts are well and truly running in with pride.

4.1 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. This ball is pushed defensively towards covers.

End of Over : 4 0 Runs ENG: 4/2
3.6 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. Another ball around off and middle, blocked from the crease. A maiden wicket over from Cummins.

3.5 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. Root stands on the back foot and presents a straight bat in defense.

3.4 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.

3.3 0

Pat Cummins to Joe Root. Length ball in line of the stumps, pushed back towards the bowler.

Joe Root finds himself in the middle earlier than he would have anticipated and liked.

3.2 W

Pat Cummins to Alex Hales. OUT! Jaffa! That's what this delivery is. England rocked back early. Cummins steams in and spears in a full length delivery slanting in. Hales is beaten for pace as his bat is late in getting down. Time and tide wait for no man and so does a pacy delivery. This ball doesn't wait for the bat to come down and goes to hit Hales' front pad and deflects onto the off stick. Doesn't help being an opener when you are walking back early even after coming in one drop. Even if he wouldn't have been bowled, LBW was a certainty. This is the fourth time Pat has got Alex, the most the batter is dismissed by anybody. Start all the bunny talks...

3.1 0

Pat Cummins to Alex Hales. Around good length in the line just around off, driven back to the left of the bowler.

End of Over : 3 1 Runs ENG: 4/1
2.6 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. Outside off, Jonny finds backward point with this defensive push. Hazlewood is keeping it nice and tight.

2.5 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. Hurled in line of the stumps, driven to the man at mid on.

2.4 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. Nicely struck, for nothing. Outside off on a fuller length, Bairstow strides forward and drives straight to covers. A slight misfield there doesn't result into anything.

2.3 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jonny Bairstow. Fuller in length, pushed back to mid on.

2.2 1

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. Bowled outside off, Hales hits it hard on the ground towards point. The ball bounces over a leaping backward point and rolls back for one.

2.1 0

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. This one is defended off the front foot towards point.

End of Over : 2 1 Runs ENG: 3/1
1.6 0

Pat Cummins to Jonny Bairstow. Fuller around off, pushed towards covers.

1.5 0

Pat Cummins to Jonny Bairstow. Nope! This ball is defended from the crease on the track.

1.4 0

Pat Cummins to Jonny Bairstow. Roy got one on the pads in his first ball and here's Bairstow getting the same. On a length, it moved in after pitching, past the inside edge of Jonny's defensive bat and onto his front leg. A wicket next up?

1.3 1

Pat Cummins to Alex Hales. Very full around middle, Alex gets it off the inner half through mid-wicket for one.

1.2 0

Pat Cummins to Alex Hales. On a length around off and middle, Hales stands tall and defends it with a straight bat.

1.1 0

Pat Cummins to Alex Hales. Speared outside off, Hales shoulders arms and lets it be.

Pat Cummins to steam in with the second new ball from the other end. Two slips for him, too.

End of Over : 1 2 Runs ENG: 2/1
0.6 1

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. Hales gets going. He taps it towards mid off and gets across to the other end. A positive start for the hosts.

0.6 wd

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. WIDE! Loose shot from Alex here. On a length well outside off, Hales looks to cut it away but misses. Wide signaled by the umpire, marginal call. First run on the board for England.

0.5 0

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. Similar ball, kept out from the crease.

0.4 0

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. Length ball around off, defended towards covers.

0.3 0

Josh Hazlewood to Alex Hales. Fuller outside off, moves away a bit. Hales shoulders arms.

Alex Hales walks in to face the third ball of the innings. Helps being an opener, as this is as good as that task.

0.2 W

Josh Hazlewood to Jason Roy. OUT! Happy Australia Day, indeed! This is a shot of a man in form, says my colleague Praky. Full and outside off, Roy goes to drive at it. Plays away from the body and that's the error that he did. Ends up hitting it straight into Steven Smith's lap at backward point. The reason of the comment of my mate here, is that someone not in touch wouldn't have played this one so early in the innings. Good early strike for Australia, fifth nought for Jason in his ODI career.

0.1 0

Josh Hazlewood to Jason Roy. How's an appeal to start the day? Hazlewood lands it on a length around middle, angling in. Roy gets forward lazily to flick but misses to get struck high on the front pad. A stifled appeal, not really a forcible one, turned down. Height could be an issue.

How's the feeling as an opener when you get to know that you don't have to contend with a certain Mitchell Starc? Relief? Confidence? Bliss? Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will show us that with the way they will play. Out they come with the wooden thing in hand, that starts with a B, ends with a T and has an A somewhere in between. Josh Hazlewood will jog in with the first new white rounded object in hand. Two slips wait in anticipation. Here we go...

TOSS - Australia have got the coin to spin their way and they WILL BOWL FIRST. A couple of changes for the home team. Travis Head and Andrew Tye come in, in place of Aaron Finch and Mitchell Starc. For England, the sole change is that of Tom Curran replacing the injured Liam Plunkett.

Australia have lost only once out of five times when they have played on Australian Day against England at this venue. A nice positive stat, right? Alas, stats and history count for very little in sport! Injury for a player of either sides means that there will be at least one forced change. Aaron Finch is ruled out for the hosts while Liam Plunkett is out for the tourists. Who'll take their spots? Let's find out that and the outcome of the toss in a bit. Stay tuned.

Ever heard about returning the favour? England have done just that. Swept away 4-0 in Tests, they hold the cards in the ODIs by being three to nothing at the moment. Once a series is lost, talks rise about 'playing for pride'. Is there pride left, though, after getting defeated? We'll let you figure that out. For now, it's good to have you cricket freaks with us for our coverage of the fourth game of this 50-over match series on this Australian Day between Australia and England to be played at the Adelaide Oval.

End of Over : 37.0 AUS: 197/7

Australia's record of never getting whitewashed at home in ODIs stays. They were prolific and were hell-bent on making use of the early opening to their advantage. England, well, they have a few things to look back at, when they get back to their drawing board. Among the points would be Jason Roy's tapering form post the magnificent 180 in the first game of the series. One more match remains in this ODI series. A new stadium makes its international debut in that game. The venue is in Perth but not the WACA. Join us then at 1120 local time (0320 GMT). See ya! Ta-ta!

Steven Smith, the Australian skipper, states that it feels nice to get over the line, although he laments their batting failures apart from Travis Head. Admits that England lost their top order wickets too quickly for him to realise the same. Mentions that their bowlers helped them restrict the opposition to something that their batsmen could chase. About the new venue for the next game, he excitedly reckons that it was long overdue for the sport to get there.

Pat Cummins, the Man of the Match, says that it feels nice to get a win after some bad games earlier. Opines that the wicket here has something for the bowlers, which is good. Lavishes praise on Josh Hazlewood by saying that he is clever with his variations. States that being injury-free is everything that he can ask for. Sounds excited to travel and play Tests in South Africa.

Eoin Morgan, the English skipper, reckons that 8/5 was the difference between the two sides. Admits it wasn't such a wicket at all. States that at that moment, one tries to go and play in a planned way and credits the opposition for bowling well. Praises Adil Rashid by saying that he is chipping in with wickets regularly, which is good. Ends saying that they are looking forward to playing at the new Perth stadium in the next game.

The touring bowlers simply didn't have much in the bank to play with. Adil Rashid was the most impressive one, picking up three wickets in the middle. At that stage, England did look like coming back into the contest but from the other end, it was a tap left open - free to collect runs or release the pressure created. This is after their batters failed to acknowledge the fact that they were turning up to play a fifty-over contest. They were helped by Chris Woakes' 78 to get to a face-saving score after finding themselves at five down for eight. Time for the presentation.

In the Tests, Steven Smith looked invincible but that hasn't been the case in this series. Although the outcome is a favourable one, it shouldn't hide the batting failure of his side. One might argue that Mitchell Marsh and Tim Paine were among the runs, but in reality, theirs knocks aren't ones that you can bank on. The Warners and Smiths need to turn up. Cameron White? Well, we might have seen the last of him already.

At the halfway stage, this run-chase was expected to be a canter. But it was anything apart from that. A labored crawl, one can say. England started fairly well with the ball but the total that they had was never going to be sufficient for them. Even though wickets were coming in from one end at fair intervals, Travis Head held one end up nicely to quell any chances of an England comeback. He looked in sublime touch, missing out on his second ton as an opener by a whisker.

Here is what Travis Head had to say when Mark Taylor catches up with him. He says that it feels good to get a result in their favour finally. Lauds his bowlers' efforts to restrict the opposition to a paltry score. Reckons it feels nice to bat at the top of the order and that suits his game as well. Mentions that he is happy to let Aaron Finch come in if he is fit and fine. Ends by hoping to put up a similar performance in their next outing.

36.6 3

Mark Wood to Andrew Tye. These are the winning runs for Australia. Tye drives it past mid off, the fielder there puts in a dive and gets some hand on that. That slows the ball down. Tye thinks that the ball has crossed the fence, before realizing that it hasn't and they then run three. AUSTRALIA TRIUMPH ON THEIR NATIONAL DAY, THEY WIN BY 3 WICKETS!

Wood bails out before delivering that one. Perhaps the umpire wasn't ready there.

36.5 1

Mark Wood to Tim Paine. Bouncer on leg, pulled to deep square leg for one.

36.4 4

Mark Wood to Tim Paine. FOUR! England are feeding Paine with the short stuff and he is feeding off them nicely. Pulls this one nicely through backward square leg for another boundary.

36.3 4

Mark Wood to Tim Paine. FOUR! Short and wide, punished. Paine stands tall and cuts it over backward point for a boundary.

36.2 0

Mark Wood to Tim Paine. Banged short, TP lets it be.

Andrew Tye is the next man in.

36.1 W

Mark Wood to Pat Cummins. OUT! A run out and Cummins is the victim. This is what happens when one speaks in Greek and the other in Hebrew. Fuller ball around off and middle, pushed down the ground. It seems that there is an easy couple on offer but Paine doesn't feel so. Although he was already running for just one, he turns and finds Pat halfway down. Shows some signs of coming for the second due to which the pacer takes a couple of steps. Seeing the throw, Tim backs out and leaves Pat high and dry. Not the greatest bit of communication I have seen.

End of Over : 36 2 Runs AUS: 184/6
35.6 1

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. This time, PC guides it past Roy at backward point for a single to retain strike.

35.5 0

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Full and outside off, Cummins looks to drive but misses.

35.4 0

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Bouncer around off, Pat lets it be.

35.3 0

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Well done, Roy. Swoops down from backward point to field the cut shot and restrict this to a dot ball. Has a wild throw at the bowler's end too.

35.2 0

34.2 W

Mark Wood to Travis Head. OUT! Head was nailing the pull in the last couple of overs, does the same this time as well. Only thing is, here he finds the fielder at mid on to perfection. Dejection for Head, delight for Morgan and England. Short in length in line of the stumps, Travis hangs back and hits it straight to Morgan. He does well to take that as it was traveling at a rate of knots. Disappointment is writ large on the southpaw's face as he walks back four short of a triple figure mark. Aussies just 17 runs away from crawling home and have 4 wickets in hand.

34.1 0

32.5 1

Mark Wood to Tim Paine. Clever bowling. Wood spears it full around off, Paine squeezes it to the off side from the crease. The batters hare across for a run, even as Wood gets to the ball and kicks it towards the stumps at the striker's end.

28.5 1

Moeen Ali to Tim Paine. Paine plays a similar shot and gets on for the same.

28.4 2

Moeen Ali to Tim Paine. Good running. Paine stands back and lets the ball just outside off come to his bat and guides it towards short third man. Wants a second and gets it before a flat accurate throw from Curran comes in. 150 up for Australia, who are 47 away from making it 3-1!

25.3 W

Adil Rashid to Marcus Stoinis. OUT! The shots were sweet, the revenge, sweeter. This is what you get from the leg spinners. They will go for runs, but when they are in operation, a wicket is always round the corner. Rashid tosses this top spinner around off, not sure Stoinis picked it up. He looks to slog it away and only manages a top edge. The ball is eternally in the air, perhaps goes into outer space and comes back. Roy is waiting at covers after judging it to perfection and hangs onto that when it drops down. Morgan is pumped up as his leggie gets a third one to his name. The Aussies are still 11 more than 50 from where they need to be at the end of the game to have a positive result.

25.2 4

Adil Rashid to Marcus Stoinis. FOUR! Ever seen a xerox machine? Know its function? The instrument doesn't have a place in the sport but this shot looks just like a copy of the previous shot. Served on the stumps, Stoinis gets down and sweep-pulls it through square leg for another boundary.

25.1 4

Adil Rashid to Marcus Stoinis. FOUR! That was four from the moment it left the bat. Floated full around off, Stoinis gets down and nails the sweep shot to perfection. The ball scoots in front of square on the leg side for a boundary.

Mark Wood to Travis Head. Shorter outside off, flayed through point for a couple.

End of Over : 24 4 Runs AUS: 124/4

23.5 2

Adil Rashid to Travis Head. Now! Wood is making matters worse on the field as well. Like leggies often do, Rashid slips in a loose ball down the leg side. Head gets down and sweeps it straight to fine leg. The fielder there fails to collect it at one go and concedes an extra run.

Mark Wood to Travis Head. Defended off the front foot towards covers.

22.5 4

Mark Wood to Travis Head. FOUR! There are talks about Wood not setting the mood right today with his bowling. His pace seems to have come down a great deal and he is unable to maintain the pressure that he did earlier in the series. Here he is, bowling it short yet again. Head, like he has been doing all the while today, gets on top of that and pulls it through mid-wicket for a boundary. He moves to 61 now.

21.6 4

Adil Rashid to Marcus Stoinis. FOUR! Believe me, this is the first ball that Stoinis has faced. Floated around off, Marcus gets down the track and looks to go over mid on but gets it off the inner half. Yet the desired result is the same, a boundary to get going. 8 runs and a wicket off this over.

Marcus Stoinis walks in next.

21.5 W

Adil Rashid to Mitchell Marsh. OUT! How's your hand, Rashid? How nonchalant he made that catch look! Tossed up ball around off, it turns out to be a low full toss. Marsh recoils to smash it right back but does so straight back to Adil, who makes it look as easy as having a pie. Makes a poker face post that as he gives his mates high fives. Mitchell cannot believe what has just happened but he has no other option than walking back. The hosts still require 85 off 169. For the record, Adil Rashid has dismissed Mitchell Marsh in all the four games in the series.

19.2 0

Adil Rashid to Travis Head. Flatter around off, pushed towards covers.

19.1 4

Adil Rashid to Travis Head. FOUR! Shot! Michael Clarke on air mentioned earlier that Head is a wonderful player of spin once he gets his eye in and that's proving to be true here. Reads the flipper around off well and goes through the cover region with the drive. Finds the gap there and gets a boundary. Gets to 1000 ODI runs as well.

End of Over : 19 6 Runs AUS: 101/3
18.6 0

Moeen Ali to Mitchell Marsh. Punched off the back foot by the batsman.

18.5 1

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. 7th ODI fifty for Travis Head, his second score over 50 as an opener. Remember, this is just the 4th time that he is opening the innings. Drinks break. Australia are on course in spite of losing three wickets. Mitchell Marsh has shown some aggressive intent in his batting and his partner Travis Head is also showing promising form. Another 102 runs needed and the hosts will be confident of chasing it down. England need to be chipping away at the wickets to stay in hunt.

End of Over : 18 8 Runs AUS: 95/3
17.6 1

Adil Rashid to Mitchell Marsh. A gentle flick in the mid-wicket region and Marsh keeps strike with himself.

17.5 6

Adil Rashid to Mitchell Marsh. SIX! That is power hitting at its best. Brutal! Doesn't matter it's a leg spinner or googly, it has perished in the stands. As soon as it lands on a fuller length just outside off, Marsh kneels and smokes it over mid-wicket for a biggie. Kind of shot for which you should be apologizing to the bowler, says the on-air commentator. Really smashed that.

He bludgeons it through covers where poor Curran tries to stop it but it blazes past him in a flash. Almost took his hands with it. This guy is too powerful.

13.5 W

Adil Rashid to Steven Smith. OUT! Bunny alert here... Rashid has dismissed Steven Smith for the fifth time in ODIs. Where were you in the Ashes, screams my partner! A flatter and shorter delivery, around off and skidding in with some extra bounce, Smith goes deep inside the crease to punch it through the line. But it's too close to his body and he ends up edging it to first slip. It travels with the speed of light to Joe Root who manages to pouch it. Tremendous reflexes shown by the English Test skipper. He also will be wondering why wasn't Rashid around when they were beaten black and blue by Steven Smith in the Test series. 127 off 217 balls, England trying hard to hang in there...

Powerplay 2. England can now have a maximum of 4 fielders outside the ring till the 40th over. But they will be better off by having their field up and stop the rotation of strike. Anyway, this match doesn't look like to be lasting till the 40th over. Attack and pick wickets, that's the only way they can make a match out of this.

It nips back in after landing as White draws forward to defense. But his bat hits his front pad and the ball also goes on to strike the front leg.
