Are you fascinated by all the news about space? Does astronomy excite you too much? Are you constantly checking up on Elon Musk’s Tesla that has been launched in space? If that’s all a yes then soon you may be able to travel to space and stay there too! This is an ambitious project of Billionaire Robert Bigelow in the planning. He is planning an inflatable space hotel to come up by the year 2021.

Bigelow Aerospace, a company which manufactures space habitats has started another venture called Bigelow Space Operations. This company has been primarily formed to sell and manage the modules that the parent company creates. Bigelow Aerospace sends them into the orbit. The company will now figure what kind of global markets exist for commercial ventures in lower orbit of the Earth. While they figure out this they have an option open for turning habitats into hotels.

So looks like space tourism will actually come into force. Bigelow is also interested in helping foreign countries to establish human space programs. The tourist destination will also serve for governments seeking orbital space. Well ofcourse you will have to pay a hefty price to stay in these hotel pods. It would be somewhere near eight figures!

The company apparently is also working with the United Launch Alliance (ULA) to send an inflatable habitat to low lunar orbit by 2022. “Our lunar depot plan is a strong complement to other plans intended to eventually put people on Mars,” Bigelow said. The space-station plans are based on soft-bodied modules which are launched in a compressed configuration but they expand greatly once they reach in space. So Bigelow really wants to look into the future and make it accessible for the people to stay in! Well, those are big plans up in the high for real but sound quite exciting.
