New Delhi [India], September 17 (ANI): Two individuals were arrested after police acted on information regarding a gang allegedly involved in obtaining and selling Call Detail Records (CDRs) and the locations of mobile phone subscribers, Delhi Police officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The police busted the gang and arrested two suspects, identified as Tarun Vincent Deniel and Harsh Kumar, who were allegedly engaged in the illegal business of acquiring and selling CDRs and mobile phone subscriber locations. The accused are believed to have obtained and sold over 100 CDRs and locations of various mobile phone subscribers.

According to police, a decoy customer was sent to approach the suspects for the CDR of a particular mobile phone number after receiving intelligence about the operation. The decoy contacted the accused, who agreed to provide the CDR in exchange for Rs 60,000. An advance payment of Rs 29,000 was made via an online transaction, with the remaining Rs 31,000 to be paid upon receipt of the CDR. The CDR was subsequently provided to the decoy customer via WhatsApp, and the accused requested to meet at a Delhi Metro station to collect the balance.

The police raided the location and apprehended the suspect at Dwarka Mor Metro Station, Delhi. Following his interrogation, his associate, identified as Harsh Kumar, was also arrested.

During questioning, both suspects admitted to obtaining and selling the CDRs and locations of over 100 mobile phone subscribers.

They also revealed the involvement of another gang member, Sanjay Kumar, who works as a freelance detective.

The police confirmed that Sanjay Kumar is also being interrogated, and further details are awaited. (ANI)
