2020 Assembly Elections Updates

The Election Commission of India declared the final outcome of Delhi assembly elections 2020, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared the winner from 62 seats and the BJP from 8. The Congress ended up drawing a blank.

Delhi Congress chief Subhash Chopra, who had recently taken over as the party's state unit chief ahead of the Delhi assembly elections 2020, resigned on Tuesday. His exit came shortly after the party drew a blank in the assembly polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for the victory in Delhi assembly elections 2020. "Congratulations to AAP and Shri @ArvindKejriwal Ji for the victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Wishing them the very best in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Delhi," the PM tweeted.

Top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on the party's thumping victory in the Delhi assembly elections 2020. "My best wishes & congratulations to Mr Kejriwal and the AAP on winning the Delhi Assembly elections (sic)," he said.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal reaches Hanuman Mandir along with Manish Sisodia to thank Lord Hanuman. The AAP has won the Delhi Assembly Elections 2020, getting 63 seats while the BJP has got 7.

Manoj Tiwari speaks to the media as BJP loses Delhi Assembly Elections 2020. "I thank the people of Delhi. I congratulate Arvind Kejriwal. I hope he will work for the welfare of Delhi. I want to tell BJP workers to not lose hope. The good thing is that our vote share has increased," Tiwari said. 

The BJP has conceded defeat. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has congratulated Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and is expected to hold a news briefing at 4:30 pm.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray: I congratulate Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Delhi for AAP's victory in Delhi Polls2020. People have shown that the country will be run by 'Jan Ki Baat', not 'Mann Ki Baat'. BJP called Kejriwal a terrorist but couldn't defeat him.

With Manish Sisodia taking lead on the Patparganj seat and Atishi now taking a big lead on the Kalkaji seat, the AAP is now leading on 59 seats, BJP on 11.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal celebrated AAP's victory as well as his wife Sunita's birthday with a cake-cutting session.

As per fresh reports, Delhi Deputy CM and AAP leader Manish Sisodia is now leading on the Patparganj seat by about 700 votes. He was earlier trailing on this seat.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh tweets, "2 crore family members of Delhi have shown that their son Arvind Kejriwal is not a terrorist, but a true patriot. We bow our head to the great people of Delhi for giving us victory with a great majority."

It's early Holi at the AAP headquarters as party workers celebrate their victory. As per the latest numbers, the AAP is leading on 56 seats, the BJP is leading on 14.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called up Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to congratulate him. The AAP is leading on 58 seats while the BJP is ahead on 12. Meanwhile, AAP's Atishi is now trailing by a narrow margin.

Prashant Kishor, Head of the IPAC, the brain behind the AAP's 2020 Election campaign, tweets as the party gets set for victory. "Thank you, Delhi for standing up to protect the soul of India!"

As per the latest numbers on the Election Commission website, the AAP is leading on 57 seats while the BJP is ahead on 13. Meanwhile, AAP's voteshare is 53.2% while the BJP's is 39.1% as of now.

This could be a setback for the AAP. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is now trailing from Patparganj by more than 1,000 votes. BJP's Ravinder Singh Negi is leading.

As per the latest update, AAP's Atishi, who was trailing, is now leading from the Kalkaji seat. Manish Sisodia, meanwhile, is leading from the Patparganj, but by a margin of less than 100 votes. The AAP is now leading on 56 seats while the BJP is ahead on 14.

As per the EC website, the AAP is leading on 47 seats while the BJP is leading on 19. Meanwhile, there are about 21 seats where the margin of leading candidates is less than 1,000 votes. The AAP is trailing on some of its key seats including Kalkaji and Okhla.

As per trends on the Election Commission website, too, the AAP has now crossed the half-way mark in leads. The AAP is leading on 39 seats while the BJP is ahead in 19.

As per latest trends, on 21 out of 70 seats, the margin is less than 1,000 votes. The trends on TV channels show AAP leading on 50 seats, BJP on 20. 

The trends on the Election Commission website show that the AAP is leading on 18 seats while the BJP is ahead on 11.

As per fresh trends, AAP's Atishi is now trailing on the Kalkaji seat while the BJP's Dharambir Singh is leading. AAP leading on 53 seats, BJP on 17.

As per the trends on the Election Commission website, the AAP is leading on 7 seats, the BJP is ahead on 6. 

Tajinder Pal Bagga is now trailing from the Hari Nagar seat. The AAP is now leading on 57 seats while the BJP is ahead on 13 seats.

Congress has now lost the lone lead it had in the initial trends. The AAP has taken the lead in Ballimaran now. As per latest trends: AAP 56, BJP 14

Some of the biggest names of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are leading from their respective seats as per the trends. CM Arvind Kejriwal is leading from the New Delhi seat, Manish Sisodia is leading from the Patparganj seat, Atishi is leading from Kalkaji seat.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reached the AAP office as the party is now leading on 54 seats. The trends are showing a comfortable victory for the AAP.

There are celebrations already taking place at the Aam Aadmi Party office as the party leads on 46 seats as per the initial trends. The BJP is leading on 11 seats, the Congress on 1. 

The AAP has crossed the half-way mark in initial trends and is leading in 38 seats. The BJP is ahead in 10 seats while the Congress is leading on 2.

The initial leads so far are in favour of the AAP even as the BJP seems to be gaining from its 2015 number. The AAP is now leading on 25 seats while the BJP is ahead in 9 and to everyone's surprise, Congress is leading on 3 seats as per fresh trends.

Manoj Tiwari, BJP Delhi Chief to Media: I am not nervous. I am confident that it will be a good day for BJP. We are coming to power in Delhi today. Don't be surprised if we win 55 seats.

Delhi Traffic Police Updates on road closures for counting of votes: 

Traffic movement will remain closed on Muni Maya Ram Marg near Guru Nanak Dev Institute of Technology (both carriageways) due to vote counting today.

Traffic movement will remain closed on Road number 224 Dwarka from sector 7/9 crossing towards sector 9/10 crossing due to counting.

Traffic movement is closed from Muni Maya Ram Marg to Kasturba Gandhi polytechnic college Pitampura due to vote counting. Motorists are advised to take alternate route via Netaji Subhash Marg and Shalimar Bagh.

Traffic movement is closed from Maharani Bagh to C.V. Raman Marg & Mata Mandir to C.V. Raman Marg (Both Carriageways) due to vote counting.

BJP leader Vijay Goel offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place. Speaking to media channels, he said that he is confident that the BJP will form the government in Delhi.
