New Delhi, October 16: In a shocking incident, a 79-year-old man sexually assaulted his neighbour's eight-year-old daughter in northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas on Saturday. According to a report published in The Times of India, The accused lured the girl on the pretext of giving her sweets. The police registered the case under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was sent to judicial custody.

The incident came to light after the girl narrated the ordeal to her mother. During an investigation, the police found that the in the past also the accused had sexually assaulted the victim. The girl is currently undergoing counselling to overcome the trauma.

In a similar incident of sexual assault, a visually impaired girl was allegedly raped by four men in the national capital. According to a tweet by new agency ANI, the brutal incident took place near Desh Bandhu Gupta road in Delhi on May 4. The police arrested the accused, and the victim identified him with his voice. While in June, a Canadian woman, who was on a visit to India, was allegedly raped in south Delhi. According to reports, the victim was raped by a man who befriended her at a pub in Hauz Khas region. The accused, identified as Abhishek, was arrested by the Delhi Police.
