New Delhi, May 23: With just hours left for the counting for exhaustive 71-day-long Lok Sabha Elections 2019 to take place, political parties across the nation have geared up to celebrate the expected success of their beloved candidates. Reports from almost every state are arriving that leaders are already in the celebratory mood and making the arrangement for the most auspicious moment of the festival of democracy with sweets.

In the latest, JDU leader Chote Singh is seen taking special attention in the preparation of 'motichur' laddus (sweet) in Patna. Confident of winning the seat and after the exit polls predictions, the political party workers from BJP are among the most enthusiastic ones. In Odisha, shop owners from Bhubaneswar have received orders for laddus, rasgullas and kaju barfi from political parties in huge amount. One of the local vendors stated, "Have received orders for laddus, rasgullas & kaju barfi from political parties. Have received orders for 2000 laddus. Parties hopeful of winning have already placed orders."

Also in Maharashtra, BJP corporator Atul Shah had ordered to prepare 1,000 kg laddus which would be distributed to around 22,000 people at Kasturba Gandhi Chowk in Mumbai. In 2014 too, Shah had prepared around 2,000 kg laddus in anticipation of the BJP’s victory. Among other confidants include Amit Vyas - a close aide of North Mumbai's BJP candidate Gopal Shetty - who had ordered 1,500 kg motichoor laddus. Apart from this, the various organisation in Mumbai have ordered 750 kg mawa sweets and 750 kg of motichoor laddus.

Moving towards North India, sweet shop owners in Ludhiana in Punjab have received the order of 10-12 quintal of laddus from BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress. Stating that the orders started arriving soon after the exit poll results, a shop owner said, "We've received the order of 10-12 quintal of laddus from BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress. In Delhi, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has ordered special sweets including 50 kg of 'pista-badam burfi' - costs Rs 2,000 per kg for the celebration. The party office, in the meantime, had ordered nine special 7-kg laddu cake from a sweets shop - weighing 4-5 kgs each.

Considering the choices of delicacies in India, political parties in West Bengal too, have ordered sondesh, rosogullas, barfi and laddus in kilograms. In Bihar, several sweet shops are getting orders of litti-chokhas, while in Gujarat its gudd papdi and jalebi. Now with each moment passing by, more workers are being engaged by sweet shop owners to fulfil the demands of political parties. It would be interesting to see whether the delicacy would be sweet or sour after the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 results.
