The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today, September 11, said that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) suspended the permission granted to Entod Pharmaceuticals for manufacturing and marketing PresVu eye drops. The suspension comes after the Health Ministry took serious note of the unauthorised promotion of PresVu (1.25 per cent Pilocarpine w/v). The Central government said that the unauthorised promotion in the press and over social media raised several doubts about PresVu eye drops safety and unsafe use by patients. "The promotion had raised concerns about its use like OTC drugs whereas it is approved as a prescription-only drug," the Health Ministry said. It must be noted on September 3, Entod Pharmaceuticals received final approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for its innovative PresVu eye drops.
