South Africa vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - Test Summary

End of Over : 137.4 SA: 248/10

Woah, That brings us to the end of a Test match which will be remembered for a long time. The pendulum swung from England to South Africa a lot of times but it is England who in the end run away with the points. 30 to be precise in the ICC World Test championship. That's not all from this exciting series though. The caravan now moves to Port Elizabeth for the Third Test match. It will begin on 16th of January at 1000 Local (0800 GMT). Until then, ciao!

BEN STOKES IS NAMED MAN OF THE MATCH. He tries to drag Sibley with him as he wants to share the award with him but he pulls himself away from Stokes. Ben starts by saying that he came in to bowl in a do-or-die situation. Tells that Sibley deserves a lot of credit too. On his own performance, Stokes says that credit should be given to the whole group for the way they played the in entire game. On the catch by Crawley, Stokes says that he felt that it would go over but he did well to latch onto it. Tells that it is a game to remember for England and feels that South Africa too will remember this for a long time. Feels games like these are reasons why five day Tests should always be around.

England skipper, Joe Root, starts by saying that it was a great game of cricket. Tells that they believed every minute of the game that they could win the game and thanks the crowd for coming in large numbers. Tells that South Africa made things difficult for them but their 12th man, the crowd, was brilliant. On the bounce back after the defeat, Root feels that they had individual players standing up for him during tough situations. Feels that Stokes' impact once again helped them in this game. On the wicket of van der Dussen, Root says the credit goes to Stuart Broad for that wicket. On Ben Stokes' performance, Root says that he is one of those players who gives his 100 percent for the side. Adds that he is a world-class player and deserves every compliment that comes his way.

South Africa skipper, Faf du Plessis, says that they fought and fought throughout the game and it is unfortunate that there has to be a winner. Credits England for coming at them relentlessly. Tells that with the series level now, the next game is going to be an exciting one. Praises Malan's effort and feels that the transition phase is always worrying but Malan's effort helps the team in such a phase. Tells that he does not mind losing here as they fought really hard in this game. On the conditions, du Plessis said that conditions change everywhere. Tells that two tough and very good games have been played. Says that they will regroup and try to do better in the next game.

Quinton de Kock is now down for a chat with Shaun Pollock. De Kock starts by saying that the boys fought hard but credits the English bowlers for a superb performance. Tells that they tried to take the game as deep as they could. On his wicket, he says that it felt really bad. Tells that he will try to stay away from the game for a couple of days and then regroup for the next game. On Philander's last game at Newlands, and eventually his retirement post the series, de Kock says that he is a special player and that they will miss him in the dressing room. The players are now down again for the presentation.

Zak Crawley is down for a quick chat with Pommie Mbangwa. He starts by saying that it was an exceptional game. On Stokes' performance, says that he was very good. On the catch of Nortje, Crawley says that it came really quickly at him and the ball popped up. Feels he was lucky there as it went up and he managed to pouch it with his other hand. Dominic Sibley comes to talk to Mbangwa now. He says that it's an amazing win. On things not going their way, Sibley says that before this session, things looked really flat but they did not give up. Says that Stokes is an amazing player and he gets things done for the side.

Stuart Broad is down for a chat with Shaun Pollock. He starts by saying that this win is a special one and mentions that the crowd has been exceptional in this game. Reckons South Africa played brilliantly too but felt that they knew that they needed one magic moment and things will change. On the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen, Broad says that he did not plan that ball, adds that he actually sprayed down the leg side unintentionally and luckily it got him the big wicket. Tells that the wicket got slow as the final day approached and tells that Stokes' innings yesterday gave them a lot of time to bowl them out.

So, a summary of this Test match overall. South Africa put in a good performance in the first innings with the ball as they restricted England to only 269 with Nortje, Rabada and Philander being the pick of the bowlers. England responded even better with Anderson and Broad being the pick of the bowlers. Anderson picked up a 5-fer as they got a lead of 46. Dominic Sibley, then in the second bout, registered his maiden Test ton and contributions from Big Ben and others gave a target of 438 to the Proteas which ultimately proved to be enough as the English Lions won the game by 189 runs.

The hosts, on the other hand, started well. They blocked whatever was thrown at them but maybe an extremely defensive approach hurt them. Pieter Malan was the star for them with a brilliant 84 on his debut in the second innings. He along with Rassie van der Dussen, who played 140 balls for his 17 looked the most comfortable batters out there. The Proteas skipper would be disappointed with himself as he threw his wicket away. Just when de Kock and van der Dussen were making things look easy, the former played a poor shot and he too got out. Rassie van der Dussen soon followed with a strangle down the leg side and then it all went downhill. The last four wickets fell in quick succession and that gave the visitors a hard-fought victory.

The second innings did not start well for the visitors. Elgar and Malan stood tall and gave a good start to the South Africans. Even Elgar's wicket did not stop the Proteas. Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock gave a fight but once the latter fell, England pounced upon that opportunity and finished things off quickly for the visitors. Despite Anderson being injured almost throughout the final session, the other bowlers bowled brilliantly especially Stokes in the end. He was the one with the three final wickets. Anderson picked up two wickets and all the other bowlers also chipped in with wickets. Overall, it was a very good performance from the visitors in the second innings.

Wow! What a Test match we have witnessed! A match surely to remember for a long time. Stokes you beauty! Brilliant! England deserve every bit of it. At Tea, it looked like Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen would bat out the session and settle for the draw but England persisted and it paid off in the end. It all started with the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen who threw them away. Philander and Pretorius held fort for some time but then, it was the Ben Stokes show as he took two wickets off two balls. Philander was the last man to fall and that gave England the all-important victory, their first in this decade.

Ben Stokes to Vernon Philander. OUT! CAUGHT! Heartbreak for Vernon Philander and South Africa after coming so close. England have come out on top after what has been a riveting game. Stokes is the hero as he has harassed and dislodged three stubborn tailenders. Stokes bowls a length ball just outside off, Philander looks to fend at it and the ball goes off the splice of the bat and into the hands of Ollie Pope at gully who takes the catch.
