Mehsana (Gujarat) [India], July 23 (ANI): The Mehsana Municipality recently sealed the offices of the Aeronautics Training Centre (ATC) at Mehsana airfield over non-payment of over Rs 5 crore-worth taxes.
The ATC was set up by Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd in 2007.
The Municipal Corporation had issued a notice to Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics, however, since the company did not pay the overdue taxes, the offices in the airfield were sealed.
Also, a chartered plane in the hanger of the airfield was tethered to a municipal corporation vehicle to prevent its usage.
This marks the second time in three years that the Mehsana airfield, which was jointly developed by the Government of Gujarat and Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd, has been sealed.
In 2016, a notice was issued to the company to pay Rs 4.52 crore, non-payment of which, led to the sealing of the airfield.
Also, the municipal corporation officer had found in 2016 that illegal construction was being carried out at the site. (ANI)
