Bhubaneswar, April 5: With days remaining for First Phase of Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party in the state – Samir Mohanty – had written to the Election Commission seeking the disqualification of Biju Janata Dal candidate from Sambalpur parliamentary constituency – Nalini Kanta Pradhan. The BJP vice chief of the state cited the law and accused Pradhan of holding the post of Directorship of two govt companies as on today.

Seeking the disqualification of BJD candidate, Mohanty wrote to EC, “Nalini Kanta Pradhan (BJD candidate from Sambalpur parliamentary constituency) shall be disqualified under the law as he is holding the post of Directorship of two govt companies as on today.” Odisha Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule: Constituency-Wise Dates Of Voting And Results For General Elections.

Also,, he accused the Returning Officer of the Sambalpur of adopting dilly-dallying tactics with an ulterior motive. The letter to EC stated, “The Returning Officer who is the DEO, Sambalpur has been adopting dilly-dallying tactics with an ulterior motive and is avoiding to take cognisance of the disqualification of Nalini Kanta Pradhan & rejecting his nomination.”

The Lok Sabha Elections for Odisha will begin on April 11 and continue till April 29. Along with the Lok Sabha Elections, the Assembly elections in the state will be held simultaneously, and the results for both would be declared on May 23.
